Meet the cultivators who help make Lux happen
Appalachian Seeds Farm & Nursery is owned and operated by Amy Hamilton, an herbalist, mother, biodynamic/organic farmer and psychotherapist who loves to share her passion for plants with others. For over 25 years Amy has lived in western North Carolina, working in the fields of natural foods, alternative medicine, and sustainable agriculture. In the late nineties Amy worked with the esteemed Maya Tiwari, learning about Ayurvedic cooking and healing. She spent a few incredible years at Gaia Herbs working in all levels of production. Amy worked for an OMD helping run the office and apothecary, gaining invaluable experience in Chinese medicine. She also worked for Dr. Jeanine Davis at NCSU for seven years, assisting farmers transition into growing medicinal herb crops; marketing these crops; and with conducting research on medicinal herbs, heirloom tomatoes, other vegetables, and organic systems.
During this time she received her B.S. in Environmental Science at UNCA with a concentration in ethnobotany. Amy loves to teach people about growing and using food and medicine and is very active in the farming community. She has been a passionate advocate of sustainable agriculture and preserving the natural medicine heritage of WNC, helping found the Appalachian Botanical Alliance - an herb growers' cooperative - in 2012. In 2011 she became a full-time farmer with the birth of her oldest son. Along with her husband and two sons she farms 5 certified organic acres in Leicester, NC as Appalachian Seeds Farm & Nursery. Amy recently graduated from Pacifica Graduate Institute, earning her master's degree in counseling psychology. Her goal is to merge her passion for nature and farming with her passion for healing.
High Country Fungi is located in the Boone area and specializes in the intentional, indoor cultivation of gourmet/culinary and medicinal mushrooms. Our mission is to demystify the Fungal Kingdom and highlight the benefits of consciously consuming and cultivating mushrooms. We believe our mycelial counterparts can help restore the mental and physical health of our collective being and our beloved Mother Earth. Lion's Mane, Cordyceps Militaris, Reishi, and Turkey Tail are some of the medicinal mushrooms we cultivate. We provide Lux Botanics with the highest quality fruit bodies so that our customers receive nothing less than pure medicine
Otherside Farm (Otherside Hemp) is a small-batch craft hemp farm nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. We are passionate about endeavors which bring people and plants together, and seek to employ regenerative horticultural and farming practices to produce a crop that can help us heal and grow. We are raising a family and organically grown hemp with values grounded in sustainable farming practices, being attentive stewards of the land, building community and our soils. All Otherside Hemp products are third-party tested to ensure quality and strength! We do not out-source for our extract, everything comes straight from our plants! We partner with local labs that we trust, like Lux Botanics, for extraction and formulation and truly believe that community is our foundation for healing and growth.
